This weekend has a variety of repertory staples as well as rarely performed works. There are also two highly anticipated concert performances that should not be missed.

A Streetcar Named Desire – Teatro Colón, Argentina

Andre Previn’s masterpiece gets its Argentina premiere in a new production by Rita Cosentino. The production stars Orla Boylan, David Adam Moore, Sarah Jane McMahon, Eric Fennell, and Victoria Livengood. David Brophy conducts. Performances are scheduled for Friday and Sunday.

Tosca – Bayerische Staatsoper, Germany

Anja Harteros stars in her signature role alongside Stefano La Colla and John Lundgren. Andrea Battistoni conducts Luc Bondy’s controversial production.

La Gazza Ladra – Teatro Sao Carlos, Portugal

Sesto Quatrini conducts a concert performance of Rossini’s rarely performed work. The opera stars Sofia Mchedlishvili, Michele Angelini, Luís Rodrigues, Ugo Guagliardo, and Mirco Palazzi. The Saturday performance concludes the run of performances.

Così Fan Tutte – Opera de las Palmas, Spain

Giuseppe Sabbatini conducts a production by Giulio Ciabatti. The opera is set to star Claudia Pavone, Annalisa Stroppa, Paolo Fanale, Carles Pachon, Riccardo Fassi, and Marina Monzo. The saturday performance concludes the run.

La Sonnambula – Opernhaus Zurich, Switzerland

Lawrence Brownlee and Pretty Yende sing the final performance of Bellini’s masterpiece in a concert setting. The work also stars Kyle Ketelsen as Rodolfo and Sen Guo as Lisa with Maurizio Benini conducting.
