Anja Harteros & Erin Morley Highlight Staatskapelle Dresden’s 2020-21 Season

The Staatskapelle Dresden has announced its 2020-21 season.
For this article on the German orchestra, we will focus on the vocal concerts.
Ingo Metzmacher conducts Angela Denoke in Schönberg’s “Erwartung.” The program also includes Ligeti’s Lontano and Schubert’s Symphony in C Major.
Performance Dates: August 28, 2020
Christian Thielemann opens the season with Anja Kampe and Anja Harteros alternating an all R. Strauss program including “Der Rosenkavalier,” “Also sprach Zarathustra,” and “Don Juan.”
Performance Dates: August 31 & Sept. 1, 2020
Christian Thielemann conducts Anja Harteros and Georg Zeppenfeld in an all R. Strauss program including the Four Last Songs and “Tod und Verklärung.”
Performance Dates: Dec. 13-15, 2020
Christian Thielemann conducts the Silvesterkonzert with soloists to be announced.

Philippe Herreweghe conducts Bach’s “Missa H-Moll” with Dorothee Mields, Eva Zaïcik, Alex Potter, Reinoud Van Mechelen, and Krešimir Stražanac.

Kammermusick
Gaetano d’Espinosa conducts Christa Mayer and violinist Reinhard Krauß in a program that includes music by Elgar, Herchet, and Bizet.

Christian Thielemann conducts Anja Kampe and Anja Harteros in a program heavily centered on the music of Strauss, as well as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5. The concert will be performed in Frankfurt alte Oper, Teatro alla Scala, and Lucerne.

Christian Thielemann conducts R. Strauss’ “Capriccio” with Krassimira Stoyanova, Christa Mayer, Daniel Behle, Nikolay Borchev, Christoph Pohl, and Georg Zeppenfeld. The opera will be performed at the Champs-Élysées.
