Anja Harteros, Angela Meade, Yusif Eyvazov, Nicole Car & Alex Esposito Lead Deutsche Oper’s December 2021 Performances

The Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced its upcoming December 2021 performances.

Mezzo-soprano Doris Soffel will give a concert singing lieder by Gustav Mahler and Kurt Weill.

Performance date: Dec. 2, 2021

Soprano Anja Harteros gives a concert featuring Wagner’s “Wesendonck-Lieder” and “Liebestod” from “Tristan und Isolde.” The orchestra will also present Richard Strauss’ “Tod und Verklärung” op. 24. Juraj Valčuha conducts.

Performance date: Dec. 4, 2021

Alex Esposito performs Philippo II, Nicole Car sings Elisabetta di Valois, Étienne Dupuis interprets Rodrigo, and Robert Watson performs the title role in Verdi’s “Don Carlo.” The cast also includes Albert Pesendorfer as the Great Inquisitor and Yulia Matochkina as Eboli. James Gaffigan conducts a production by Marco Arturo Marelli.

Performance dates: Dec. 5 – 18, 2021

Verdi’s “Un Ballo in Maschera” stars Yusif Eyvazov as Gustavo III, Carlos Álvarez as Count René Anckarström, and Angela Meade as Amelia. The cast also includes Judit Kutasi, Meechot Marrero, Samueol Park, Patrick Guetti, Tyler Zimmerman, Jörg Schörner, and Andrew Dickinson. Michelangelo Mazza conducts a production by Götz Friedrich.

Performance dates: Dec. 20 – Dec. 29, 2021

Performances of Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” end the December slate. The opera spotlights Juan de Dios Mateos, Noel Bouley, Aigul Akhmetshina, Samuel Dale Johnson, Patrick Guetti, Samueol Park, and Antonia Ahyoung Kim. Matteo Beltrami conducts a production by Katharina Thalbach.

Performance dates: Dec. 30, 2021 – Jan. 2, 2022
