Anita Rachvelishvili, Philippe Jaroussky & Ragaa Eldin Lead Clermont Auvergne Opéra’s 2021-22 Season

Clermont Auvergne Opéra in Clermont-Ferrand, France has announced its 2021-22 season. For the purpose of this article, we will focus on the vocal works.

Opera 

Gaetano Donizetti‘s “Lucia di Lammermoor” showcases Jiwon Song as Enrico, Ragaa Eldin as Edgardo, and Heera Bae in the title role. The cast is rounded out by Avi Klemberg, Federico Benetti, Noriko Urata, and Joseph Kauzman. Amaury du Closel conducts the production by Pierre Thirion-Vallet.

Performance Dates: Oct. 13 – 16, 2021, Opéra-Théâtre

The double bill of Mascagni‘s “Cavalleria Rusticana” and Leoncavallo‘s “Pagliacci” will spotlight Chrystelle Di Marco as Santuzza, Denys Pivnitskyi in the roles of Turiddu and Canio, and Solen Mainguené as Nedda. The cast also includes Ania Wozniak, Jean Miannay, Dongyong Noh, Gosha Kowalinska, and Jiwon Song. Gaspard Brécourt conducts the production by Éric Perez.

Performance Date: Nov. 9, 2021, Opéra-Théâtre

Francesca Lattuada directs Bellini‘s “La Sonnambula” which will be conducted by Beatrice Venezi.

Performance Dates: Jan. 23 – 25, 2022, Opéra-Théâtre

Rossini‘s “La Cenerentola” will feature Franck Leguérinel as Don Magnifico, Camille Tresmontant as Don Ramiro, and Lamia Beuque in the title role. The cast also includes Philippe Estèphe, Morgane Bertrand, Lucile Verbizier, and Matthieu Toulouse. Gaspard Brécourt conducts the production by Clément Poirée.

Performance Dates: Feb. 5 – 6, 2022, Opéra-Théâtre

Jacques Offenbach‘s “Le Voyage dans la Lune” showcases Violette Polchi, Sheva Tehoval, Matthieu Lécroart, Éric Vignau, Thibaut Desplantes, Pierre-Antoine Chaumien, Kaëlig Boché, Marie Lenormand, and Jennifer Michel. Pierre Dumoussaud conducts the production by Olivier Fredj.

Performance Date: March 27, 2022, Maison de la Culture

Finally, Mozart‘s operatic masterwork “Le Nozze di Figaro” will close the season. The opera stars Igor Mostovoi as Count Almaviva, Erminie Blondel as Countess Almaviva, Heera Bae as Susanna, and Florian Bisbrouck in the title role. The cast also includes Anne-Lise Polchlopek, Magali Paliès, Eugenio Di Lieto, Marco Angioloni, Laura Baudelet, and Pierre Thirion-Vallet who is also the director. Amaury du Closel conducts.

Opera Sauvage

Jungle” features tenor Marco Van Baaren, countertenor Sylvain Manet, mezzo-soprano Clara Pertuy, and baritone Halidou Nombre. Stéphane Guignard conducts and directs.

Concerts & Recitals 

The four-part recital series “Les AFTER du Bon Pasteur” spotlights soprano Chrystelle Di Marco, tenor Ragaa Eldin, mezzo-soprano Eléonore Pancrazi, and baritone Leonardo Galeazzi who will perform various works alongside pianist Philippe Marty.

Performance Dates: Oct. 7 & Dec. 16, 2021, Feb. 10 & April 7, 2022, Chapelle du Bon Pasteur

Mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili will present works by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Duparc, and Tosti.

Performance Date: Nov. 23, 2021, Opéra-Théâtre

Countertenor Philippe Jaroussky will perform music by Purcell, Dowland, Mozart, Schubert, Ravel, and Granados. Thibaut Garcia plays the guitar.

Performance Date: Dec. 12, 2021, Opéra-Théâtre

Pergolesi’s “Stabat Mater” showcases soprano Leslie Visco and mezzo-soprano Marta Fumagalli. Antonio Florio conducts La Cappella Neapolitana.
