“Dear friends,” the soprano wrote on her social media accounts. “Unfortunately, I have to cancel my 3 upcoming performances of La Bohème at the Wiener Staatsoper. I’ve developed a traqueitis and following my doctors orders I need to recover. Thank you all for your understanding!”

The performances, which are set for Dec. 19, 22, and 25, still feature Hartig on the company’s official website. This article will be updated once Hartig’s replacement has been revealed.

Hartig is set to return to the stage in early 2020 for performances of “Le Nozze di Figaro” at the Metropolitan Opera, followed by more “Figaro” at the Wiener Staatsoper. She will also perform the role of Marguerite in “Faust” at the Opernhaus Zürich.
