Wexford Festival Opera is set to celebrate its 70th anniversary with its New York debut at Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center.

The showcase, which will take place on Thursday, April 14, 2022, will star soprano Angela Meade and pianist Myra Huang. The duo will perform music by Wagner, Meyerbeer, and Amy Beach, among others.

“Having welcomed visitors to Wexford from the United States over many years, we are thrilled to at last present a concert in New York with one of our most-loved artists!” said Randall Shannon, Executive Director of Wexford Festival Opera, in an official press statement.

Meade’s association with the festival kicked off in 2010 when she made her debut with the company; that showcase also represented her European Debut as she took on Mercadante’s “Virginia.”

This New York concert is just one of several celebrations of the organization’s major anniversary. The Wexford Festival Opera has also presented recitals in Rome, Moscow, and will showcase another in London featuring Ermonela Jaho.
