The Fort Worth Opera Festival 2019 has expanded its lineup to include four concerts that will feature some major opera stars.

The festival, which kicks off on April 26, will now feature “Baguettes and Opera” starting on April 4, 2019. This will be a collaboration with Central Market of Fort Worth and will celebrate the world premiere of “Companionship,” which features a character’s obsession with making the perfect baguette. Bread Manager Jose Vasquez and Catering Manager Marche Ann Man will teach basic techniques to create the famed breadtype. There will also be live performances throughout.

Additionally, the company will feature two major concerts. On May 2, soprano Karen Slack will take on arias, art songs, and spirituals alongside FWO Artistic Director Joe Illick, who will perform at the piano.

Soprano Angela Meade will then make her debut with the Fort Worth Opera Festival with a concert performance.

The 2019 Opera Gala will star soprano Jennifer Rowley, followed by the comic opera “Steve.” On May 5, 2019, the company will present “Words for Opera,” a libretto workshop led by Rachel J. Peters, who created “Companionship.”
