The Teatro Massimo di Palermo has announced that it will present a livestream concert on March 20, 2021 at 8 p.m. CET.

The stream will be available on the Teatro Massimo WebTv.

The performance will star soprano Angela Meade, mezzo-soprano Marianna Pizzolato, tenor Enea Scala, and baritone Nicola Alaimo. Francesco Lanzillotta will conduct the Teatro Massimo Orchestra. Ciro Visco is the Chorus Master.

The program for the concert includes works by Giuseppe Verdi, Gioachino Rossini, Gaetano Donizetti, and Vincenzo Bellini.

Italian opera houses have been mostly closed since the beginning of the pandemic, and many theaters have turned to streaming. The government of Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi has declared a new lockdown in Italy due to the soaring number of COVID-19 cases and rapid spread of novel SARS-CoV-2 variants. It is unclear when the Italian opera houses could resume with performances, and the decision will depend on the epidemiological situation per the Italian government’s decree.
