Angela Gheorghiu is returning to the Metropolitan Opera during the 2022-23 season.

In an interview with the Telegraph, the soprano said that she would be singing the title role of “Tosca” in the Met’s production of Sir. David McVicar. She said, “Tosca! Woo hoo!”

The appearance will mark the Romanian soprano’s return to the company for the first time since 2015 when she performed in Luc Bondy’s production of “Tosca.”

In the interview, the soprano also announced that she has plans to direct one day and also wants to record a baroque album. As for future roles, the soprano is looking at Umberto Giordano’s “Fedora” and Riccardo Zandonai’s “Francesca da Rimini.” She is also floating the idea of “Manon Lescaut” but noted that the Royal Opera House’s production “is an absolute horror.”

The Metropolitan Opera’s 2022-23 season is set to be announced later this month.
