The Seattle Opera is set to showcase a recital series entitled “Songs of Summer” with some of opera’s biggest stars.

Angel Blue is the first to headline a recital on May 28, which audiences can watch via the Seattle Opera’s Facebook, YouTube, or official website. Blue will be joined by pianist Jay Rozendaal for a 30-minute program.

On June 4, Tess Altiveros and pianist Elisabeth Ellis will present a recital.

On June 11, audiences can check out Jamie Barton and pianist Jonathan Easter in a number of musical hits by Leonard Bernstein, Irving Berlin, and Jason Robert Brown; they will be followed by Margaret Gawrysiak and pianist Jeremy Reger on June 18.

On June 25, John Moore will perform alongside Tim Barrick.

The “Songs of Summer” recital series will also feature Will Liverman, Ben Bliss, Shelly Traverse, Nerys Jones, Damien Geter, Vanessa Vasquez, and Theo Hoffman. Recital dates for these artists are yet to be determined but will be announced in coming weeks.

“Opera companies need to be flexible, adaptive and of course very creative if we’re going to get through this uncertain time,” said General Director Christina Scheppelmann in a press release. “At some point we will return to McCaw Hall. In the meantime, opera can still bring us joy, comfort, and touching moments of humanity—even though we cannot be together to enjoy these moments.”
