The Viennese Opera Ball is set to take place in New York City on Feb. 7, 2020.
The annual white tie charity gala, which celebrates the cultural and economic relationships between Austria and America, connecting two continents, two cities and two centuries, is renowned for featuring some of the biggest names in the opera world. For this year’s event, attendees will hear musical performances by soprano Angel Blue, tenor Michael Spyres, soprano Corinne Winters, tenor Limmie Pulliam, and soprano Ewa Plonka.
Blue is currently at the Met headlining “Porgy and Bess,” with Spyres set to lead a series of performances of “La Damnation de Faust,” also at the Met. Pulliam has a concert scheduled with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra while Winters is set to appear with the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society in late January. Plonka is set to appear in “Don Carlo” at the Dallas Opera.
Past events have showcased such major artists as Nadine Sierra, Luca Pisaroni, René Pape, Javier Camarena, George Gagnidze, Rihab Chaieb, Lucas Meachem, Ferruccio Furlanetto, Ildar Abdrazakov, Angela Meade, Marco Armiliato, and Stephen Costello, among others.
