The Semperoper Dresden has announced that Polish baritone Andrzej Dobber will sing the role of Scarpia in the Semper Essenz presentation of Puccini’s “Tosca” on Oct. 30 2020, replacing Alexey Markov.

Dobber will join a cast that includes tenor Jonathan Tetelman in the role of Mario Cavaradossi, and soprano Elena Guseva in the title role. The cast will be rounded out by Lawson Anderson, Matthias Henneberg, Aaron Pegram, Tilmann Rönnebeck, and Mateusz Hoedt.

Omer Meir Wellber will conduct the staging adaptation by Heike Maria Jenor.

Dobber recently performed the title role in Wagner’s “Der Fliegende Holländer” at the Staatsoper Hamburg, the role of Giorgio Germont in Verdi’s “La Traviata,” and the title role in Verdi’s “Nabucco” at the Semperoper Dresden.
