Andrei Danilov Set to Take Over Deutsche Oper Berlin ‘Thaïs’ Performances

The Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced a major cast change for its upcoming performances of “Thaïs,” according to its official website.

Andrei Danilov will replace previously scheduled tenor Paolo Fanale in the role of Nicias for the both concert performances of the famed Massenet opera on April 8 and April 12.

Danilov has recently performed the roles of Tamino in “Die Zauberflöte,” Rodolfo in “La bohème,” and Alfredo Germont in “La Traviata” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, among others.

Danilov will join a cast that includes Etienne Dupuis, Nicole Car, Derek Welton, Thomas Lehman, Matthew Cossack, Flurina Stucki, Karis Tucker, Anna Buslidze, Patrick Guetti, Timothy Newton, Michael Kim and Ya-Chung Huang.

Nicholas Carter will conduct.

Fanale is set to take on “La Clemenza di Tito” in Barcelona, “Così fan tutte” in Berlin, “Giovanna d’Arco” in Bilbao,” and “Leonora” in Bonn.
