Andreas Schager & Alexander Vinogradov Join New Year Gala Concert At Deutsche Oper

The Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced that heldentenor Andreas Schager and Russian bass Alexander Vinogradov will take part in the New Year Gala concert on Jan. 2, 2021.

Schager and Vinogradov will join a cast that includes Sara Jakubiak, Anna Pirozzi, Aigul Akhmetshina, and Amartuvshin Enkhbat. The Australian-born Kapellmeister of the Deutsche Oper Berlin Daniel Carter will conduct.

Andreas Schager recently performed the role of Bacchus in Richard Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos” at the Staatsoper unter der Linden. The heldentenor is slated to perform the role of Siegfried in a concert performances of Wagner’s “Der Ring des Nibelungen” at Opéra National de Paris in Nov. 2020, before taking on the role of Don Florestan in Beethoven’s “Fidelio” at the Staatsoper Berlin in Jan. 2021. Schager will also interpret the title role in Wagner’s “Parsifal” at the Staatsoper Berlin, and the role of Siegmund in “Die Walküre” at the Wiener Staatsoper in March and April 2021.

Alexander Vinogradov has just come off of a run of Verdi’s “Nabucco” at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale, where he performed the role of Zaccaria alongside Plácido Domingo, Fabio Sartori, and Maria José Siri. The bass is slated to appear in the role of Jacopo Loredano in Verdi’s “I due Foscari” at the Opéra di Monte Carlo in December 2020.
