Ana María Martinez Stars in Teatro Colón’s ‘Rusalka’ Broadcast on World Opera Day

The Teatro Colón will stream Antonín Dvořák’s “Rusalka” on its digital platforms on Sunday, Oct. 25 starting at 8 p.m. local time in Argentina, as part of its celebration of World Opera Day.

The cast of the performance from the 2017 season included soprano Ana María Martínez in the title role, tenor Dmitry Golovnin as the Prince, bass Ante Jerkunica as Vodník, and mezzo-soprano Elisabeth Canis as the witch Ježibaba. Canadian conductor Julian Kuerti was the guest musical director and conducted the company´s orchestra and chorus.

The production was directed by Mexican Enrique Singer and marked the first time Dvořák’s masterpiece was presented at the legendary Argentine theater.

This streaming will be available on the company’s official website, Youtube Channel, as well as the Teatro Colón and Gobierno de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires individual Facebook pages.

This is the latest opera to be featured online. Every Sunday, the Teatro Colón has streamed numerous operas, ballets and concerts since the cancellation of the regular season.
