Ana Lucrecia García Replaces Lianna Haroutounian As Aida At the Teatro Real

By Francisco Salazar

Soprano Lianna Haroutounian will no longer sing the role of “Aida” at the Teatro Real.

The soprano, who was expected to perform the title role in the third cast of the production, has been replaced by Ana Lucrecia García. The Teatro Real gave no explanation for the change but it is the latest in a line of changes that have been seen for the revival. According to Platea, earlier in the season, Ambrogio Maestri was taken out of the cast while tenor Alfred Kim also disappeared from the website even though he sang some performances. Marina Prudenskaya was also never announced to sing one performance.

García recently performed the role of Aida at the Paris Opera and is scheduled to sing “Luisa Fernanda” at the Opera de Tenerife. In the current revival at the Teatro Real, she will sing the title role of “Aida”  on March 15, 20, and 23 alongside Fabio Sartori, Marina Prudenskaya, and Daniela Barcellona.

Performances will be conducted by Nicola Luisotti in Hugo de Ana’s production.
