Amplified Opera Returns to Live Performances with ‘AMPLIFY 1.0’ Series

By Logan Martell

Amplified Opera has announced that it will return to live performances with its new “AMPLIFY 1.0” concert series.

This new series follows on the organizations 2019 “AMPLIFY Beta,” and seeks to highlight diverse stories and perspectives in classical music. Each night of the series will present a double-bill of works at the Ground Floor of the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto, within Jeffrey Gibson’s art installation titled “I AM YOUR RELATIVE.”

“We can’t think of a better way to return to live performance than with the concert series that started it all, and we are so fortunate to be embarking on this journey with MOCA Toronto as our partner,” said AO Co-Founder, Asitha Tennekoon, in an official press statemetn. “When we heard about Jeffrey Gibson’s exhibition, it felt as if the stars were aligning. Using art as a place for the public to gather and engage in conversation is what Amplified Opera is all about.”

Performances will be held on March 17 and 19, with tickets beginning at $25, and a ‘Pay what you can’ donation performance on March 20.
