American Modern Opera Company has announced a U.S. tour for “El Niño: Nativity Reconsidered” this December.

From Dec. 11-21, 2023, the organization will tour the famed John Adams work in a new chamber-music arrangement. Audiences will hear the work in Omaha, Stanford, New Haven, and then at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City.

The work will feature soprano Julia Bullock, contralto Jasmin White, countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo, and bass-baritone Davóne Tines. They are joined by such instrumentalists as Keir GoGwilt, Miranda Cuckson, Coleman Itzkoff, Doug Balliett, Emi Ferguson, Conor Hanick, and Jonny Allen.

“We believe that El Niño is a resonant part of the holiday canon and are thrilled to share it coast to coast, returning home to The Cathedral of St. John the Divine where it will be presented again without the barrier of cost,” said Courtenay Casey, Executive Director of American Modern Opera Company, in an official press statement.

The arrangement was created by Christian Reif.
