Italian television channel Rai5 has announced broadcasts for the week of Jan. 25 – Jan. 29, 2021. The broadcasts will be dedicated to opera stagings by Davide Livermore.

First up will be a production of Rossini’s “Il barbiere di Siviglia” with Chiara Amarù, Edgardo Rocha, Florian Sempey and Ildebrando D’Arcangelo. Donato Renzetti conducts. The opera was filmed at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma in 2016.

Streaming date: Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. CET

A production of Rossini’s “Demetrio e Polibio” will follow. The opera stars Maria José Moreno, Victoria Zaytseva, Yijie Shi, and Mirco Palazzi. Corrado Rovaris conducts. The opera was filmed at the Rossini Opera Festival di Pesaro in 2010.

Streaming date: Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. CET

Rossini’s “Ciro in Babilonia” is next in line. The opera features Ewa Podleś, Michael Spyres, and Jessica Pratt. Will Crutchfield conducts. The opera was filmed at the Teatro Rossini di Pesaro.

Streaming date: Jan. 27 at 10. a.m. CET

In the evening, spectators will be able to see the production of Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale” starring Ambrogio Maestri, Rosa Feola, René Barbera, Mattia Olivieri, and Andrea Porta. Riccardo Chailly conducts the opera, which was filmed at the Teatro alla Scala in 2018.

Streaming date: Jan. 27 at 9:15 p.m. CET

Verdi’s “Atilla” follows. The production stars Ildar Abdrazakov, Saioa Hernández, George Petean, Fabio Sartori, Francesco Pittari, and Gianluca Buratto. Riccardo Chailly conducts. The opera was filmed at the Teatro alla Scala in 2018.

Streaming date: Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. CET

The production of Verdi’s “I vespri siciliani” ends the weekly slate. The opera features Maria Agresta, Gregory Kunde, Ildar Abdrazakov, and Franco Vassallo. Gianandrea Noseda conducts. The opera was filmed at Teatro Regio di Torino in 2011.
