Alice Coote, Elizabeth Llewellyn & Anna Denisova Lead Opera North’s 2022-23 Season

Opera North has announced its 2022-23 season with eight productions.

The season opens with Verdi’s “La Traviata” with Anna Denisova, Nico Darmanin, Oliver Johnston, Stephen Gadd, and Damiano Salerno. Jonathan Webb and Manoj Kamps conduct the production by Alessandro Talevi.

Performance Dates: Sept. 29-Nov. 17, 2022

“Orpheus After Monteverdi” is set to star Kezia Bienek, Jasdeep Singh Degun, Amy Freston, Ustad Shahbaz Hussain, Supriya Nagarajan, Kirpal Singh Panesar, Kaviraj Singh, Vijay Venkat, and Nicholas Watts. Laurence Cummings conducts.

Alice Coote, Fflur Wyn, and Daisy Brown star in Gluck’s “Orfeo ed Euridice” with Antony Hermus and Laurence Cummings conducting.

Giselle Allen stars in the title role of Puccini’s “Tosca” with Robert Hayward, Callum Thorpe, and Matthew Stiff. Joana Carneiro conducts Edward Dick’s production.

Performance Dates: Jan. 21-April 1, 2023

Elin Pritchard, Heather Lowe, Paul Nilon, Henry Waddington, and Callum Thorpe star in Janacek’s “The Cunning Little Vixen” with Garry Walker conducting David Pountney’s production.

Performance Dates: Feb. 4-April 1, 2023

Hanna Hipp, Elizabeth Llewellyn, Erin Caves, Daniel Norman, Jennifer France, and John Savournin star in Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos.” Antony Hermus conducts the production by Rodula Gaitanou.

Performance Dates: Feb. 18-March 24, 2023

Bizet’s “The Pearl Fisher” will be conducted by Matthew Kofi Waldren and directed by Matthew Eberhardt.

Performance Dates: May 16-July 1, 2023

Garry Walker conducts Mozart’s “Requiem” with Dane Hurst as a choreographer.

Performance Dates: May 26 – June 4, 2023
