Aleksandra Kurzak to Star in Paris Opera’s Short Film ‘Violetta’

By David Salazar

The Opéra National de Paris has announced that starting on May 27, 2020, it will be streaming “Violetta,” a short film based on Verdi’s “La Traviata.”

The short film, which was produced by 3e scène, was created in 2019, at l’Opéra Bastille and the Hôpital Gustave-Roussy de Villejuif. It merges the story of opera star Aleksandra Kurzak as she interprets the title role of the Verdi opera and the life of a patient at the hospital, blurring the lines between fiction and reality.

The film lasts 18 minutes.

This is the latest production by 3e Scène, a company launched by the Paris Opera in 2015. The organization has created 59 original works and has over 5.9 million viewers since its launch.
