La Sinfónica de Galicia will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 on Sep. 18, 2020, as a tribute to the civil society faced with COVID-19 pandemic. The concert will take place at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona.

The initial plan by the organizers was to feature a performance by the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. However, due to the travel restrictions the ensemble’s arrival in Spain became impossible. The Sinfónica de Galicia has stepped instead.

The ensemble will perform alongside soprano Susanne Elmark, mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina, tenor Leonardo Capalbo, and baritone José Antonio López. The performance will also feature the choir Orfeó Català and Cor de Cambra del Palu.

Gustavo Dudamel will conduct the performance.
