Aigul Akhmetshina has canceled upcoming February and March performances due to health issues.

The mezzo-soprano took to social media and said, “Due to health reasons, I unfortunately have to step back from my upcoming performances of ‘L’Italiana in Algeri’ at Deutsche Oper Berlin, and to postpone the concert in Paris with my dear friends Kristina Mkhitaryan and Pavel Nebolsin. This decision was not easy, but at this moment it is the most responsible one. I’m deeply grateful to the theatres, my colleagues, and everyone involved for their understanding and support. Thank you to the audiences for your kindness – I look forward to returning to the stage very soon.”

As a result, Nadezhda Karyazina will take over the Deutsche Oper Berlin production of Rossini’s opera, which opens on March 8 while the concert with Kristina Mkhitaryan, which was set to be on Feb. 9 is canceled.

Akhmetshina is set to return to the stage on March 22 for a performance with Long Long at the Hungarian State Opera.
