
‘Aida’ Production in Adelaide Rescheduled for 2027
By Francisco SalazarThe Adelaide Oval has confirmed that Franco Zeffirelli’s production of Verdi’s “Aida” will be performed during the 2027 Adelaide Festival.
The opera, which will be brought the Arena di Verona, will be presented on Feb. 26 and 27, 2027.
The production was originally set to be presented in February 2026 but was postponed due to global shipping challenges impacting the transport of 28 containers of costumes, sets, instruments and technical equipment from Verona. The production was also set to star Jonas Kaufmann, Elīna Garanča, and Angel Blue.
A new cast will be announced in early 2026 and the production will feature 389 international performers and staff from the Fondazione Arena di Verona, complemented by 300 local cast and crew, including 155 extras and a 50-member chorus from State Opera South Australia.
