Aida Garifullina is set to perform at the Bolshoi Theatre in a production of “La Traviata.”

The soprano is set to replace Irina Lungu in the role of Violetta in “La Traviata” on March 18 and 20.

In a statement, via Instagram, the soprano said, “And now I’m glad to be home and perform La Traviata at the @bolshoi_theatre on March 18th and 20th. See you there !!!”

The soprano announced the news following performances at the Staatsoper Hamburg and marked her first post since Feb. 20, 2022.

Garifullina is set to return to the Metropolitan Opera in April in a production of “Le Nozze di Figaro” as well as at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Berlin State Opera, and Royal Opera House. Both the Met Opera and Royal Opera House publicly cut ties with the Bolshoi Theatre, with the former’s General Manager Peter Gelb telling the NY Times that the company would be ending relationships with Pro-Putin artists and institutions; the Bolshoi is, per CNN, “connected to and controlled by the Russian government.”

Despite being the most followed opera singer on Instagram with 1.4 million followers, Garifullina has made no remarks about the Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
