In its 10th season, Against the Grain Theatre is set to take Puccini’s “La Bohème” on tour all across Canada and even live stream a performance via CBC Arts on Oct. 13, 2019. The live stream will be Canada’s first-ever professional opera livestream.

The tour will take place between Sept. 27 through Nov. 7 with the first performance in the Banff Legion. After that there will be showcases in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and the Yukon. In all, the tour will feature 23 performances, including 11 at the Tranzac Club between Oct. 11- 25.

The Oct. 13 performance in Toronto will be live streamed via CBC Arts’ YouTube channel.

“This is an incredible moment for the staff, volunteers and artists that have poured their energies into AtG over the past 10 years. This partnership shows the continued possibilities that can exist between the large and smaller companies that make up our arts ecosystem,” Joel Ivany, Founder and Artistic Director of AtG, said in a press release.

The production will star Marcel D’entremont, Jonelle Sills, Clarence Frazer, and Danika Lorèn. Joel Ivany will directed while David Eliakis will be music director, accompanying the aritsts from the piano.
