Adriana Gonzalez, Irene Roberts & Anna Devin Headline Opéra de Dijon’s 2021-22 Season

Opéra de Dijon in France has announced its 2021-22 season. Here is a look at the operatic and vocal performances.

Opera

Verdi‘s “Macbeth” stars Dario Russo, Carlo Allemano, Yoann Le Lan, Alexandra Zabala as Lady Macbeth, and Stephen Gaertner in the title role. Sebastiano Rolli conducts a production by Nicola Raab.

Performance Dates: Nov. 2 – 9, 2021

Haydn’s “L’Isola disabitata” spotlights Ilanah Lobel-Torres, Lise Nougier, Kiup Lee, Tobias Westman, Kseniia Proshina, Andrea Cueva Molnar, Alexander Ivanov, and Yiorgos Ioannou. Leonardo García Alarcón conducts a production by Luigi De Angelis.

Performance Dates: Nov. 27 – Dec. 3, 2021

Le Petit Chaperon Rouge” will be directed by Charlotte Nessi.

Performance Dates: Dec. 7 – 8, 2021

Helen Maree Cooper and Anna Cavaliero star in the title roles of Humperdinck’s “Hänsel und Gretel.” The cast also includes Howard Thompson, Sarah Baillie, Matthew Clark, Billie Graham, and Leilani Barratt. Guy Hopkins conducts a production by Stephen Taylor.

Mozart‘s “Così fan tutte” showcases Andreea Soare as Fiordiligi, Kathryn Rudge as Dorabella, Andrea Hill as Despina, Maciej Kwaśnikowski in the role of Ferrando, Timothée Varon as Guglielmo, and David Bižić as Don Alfonso. Guillaume Tourniaire conducts a production by Dominique Pitoiset.

Performance Date: Feb. 6 – 12, 2022

Petite balade aux enfers” stars Judith Fa, Marie Lenormand, and Violette Clapeyron. Marine Thoreau La Salle conducts a production by Valérie Lesort.

Performance Dates: March 3 – 4, 2022

Monteverdi‘s “L’Incoronazione di Poppea” will feature soloists of the Academy of Opéra National de Paris. Vincent Dumestre conducts a production by Alain Françon.

Performance Dates: March 20 – 26, 2022

Irene Roberts stars in the title role of Silvia Costa’s production of Philippe Boesmans’ opera “Julie.” The cast also includes Dean Murphy and Lisa Mostin. Emilio Pomarico conducts.

Performance Dates: May 4 – 7, 2022

Anna Devin performs Norina, André Morsch portrays Malatesta, and Laurent Naouri stars in the title role of Donizetti‘s “Don Pasquale.” Debora Waldman conducts a production by Amélie Niermeyer.

Touring Opera

Luigi Rossi’s “Le Palais Des Sortileges” spotlights Victor Sicard as Orlando, Arianna Vendittelli as Angelica, Fabio Trümpy as Ruggiero, and Deanna Breiwick in the role of Bradamante.

The cast also includes Mark Milhofer, Lucía Martín-Cartón, Mariana Flores, Grigory Soloviov, Kacper Szelążek, André Lacerda, Valerio Contaldo, Gwendoline Blondeel, Alexander Miminoshvili, and Joy Alpuerto alongside Chœur de l’Opéra de Dijon and the Chœur de chambre de Namur. Leonardo García Alarcón conducts the Cappella Mediterranea in a production by Fabrice Murgia.

Concerts

Chorus of the Opéra de Dijon and Compagnie vocale La Tempête perform excerpts from Mendelssohn’s “Elias.”

Soprano Angélique Boudeville and tenor Yu Shao perform works by Verdi, Mascagni, Donizetti, Massenet, Bizet, Gounod, and Puccini. Guillaume Tourniaire conducts.

Soprano Alexandra Flood and baritone Alexander York perform various works by American composers alongside conductor Rebecca Tong.

Soprano Adriana Gonzalez presents works by Dussaut, Duparc, Ravel, Covatti, Mompou, Obradors, and Granados alongside pianist Iñaki Encina Oyón.

Soprano Ana Quintans, countertenor Cyril Auvity, baritenor Marc Mauillon, baritone Igor Bouin, and bass Virgile Ancely perform music by Lully alongside conductor Vincent Dumestre.

Baritone Thomas Bauer performs Schubert‘s “Winterreise.”

Soprano Ana Quintans, mezzo-soprano Marianne Beate Kielland, tenors Valerio Contaldo and Fabio Trümpy, and bass Thomas Bauer present Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion” alongside conductor Leonardo García Alarcón and the Cappella Mediterranea.

Performance Date: April 5, 2022

Sopranos Capucine Keller, Anne Magouët, and Dagmar Saskova, countertenor Maximiliano Baños, tenors Vincent Bouchot and François-Nicolas Geslot, and basses Renaud Delaigue and Alejandro Meerapfel perform music by Domenico Mazzocchi alongside conductor Étienne Meyer.

Chorus of the Opéra de Dijon presents music by Arvo Pärt alongside conductor Pierre-Louis de Laporte.

Sopranos Anaïs Constans and Angélique Boudeville, and mezzo-soprano Anaïk Morel sing Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 and the excerpts from Richard Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier.”
