Adèle Charvet, Krešimir Špicer & Nicolas Cavallier Highlight Opéra de Metz Métropole’s 2021-22 Season

Opéra de Metz Métropole in France has announced its 2021-22 season.

For the purpose of this article, we will focus on vocal performances.

Gioacchino Rossini‘s “Le Comte Ory” opens the season. The opera features Patrick Kabongo, Perrine Madoeuf, Catherine Trottmann, Cécile Galois, Armando Noguera, Leonardo Galeazzi, and Aurore Weiss. Corinna Niemeyer conducts the production by Sylvie Laligne.

Performance dates: Oct 1 – 5, 2021

Mel Brooks’ musical comedy “Frankenstein Junior” spotlights Vincent Heden, Jean-Fernand Setti, Grégory Juppin, Lisa Lanteri, Léonie Renaud, Valérie Zaccomer, Laurent Montel, Christian Tréguier, and Paul Bougnotteau. Aurélien Azan Zielinski conducts the production by Paul-Émile Fourny.

Performance dates: Oct. 28 – 31, 2021

Le Chat botté” showcases soprano Jeanne Zaeppfel and baritone Pierre-Michel Dudan. Hélène Clerc-Murgier is the director.

Performance dates: Nov. 25 – 27, 2021

Nino Rota’s “Le Chapeau de paille d’Italie” stars Patrick Kabongo, Jennifer Michel, Nicolas Cavallier, Benjamin Mayenobe, Charlotte Dellion, Bertrand Duby, Irina Stopina, Su A Park, Vincent Ordonneau, Antoine Normand, and Mikael Fazulo. Jacques Mercier conducts the production by Anthony Magnier.

Performance dates: Dec. 21, 2021 – Jan. 1, 2022

Krešimir Špicer stars in the title role of Mozart‘s “Idomeneo” alongside Adèle Charvet as Idamante, Marie-Adeline Henry as Elettra, Marianne Lambert as Ilia, and Sébastien Droy as Arbace. David Stern conducts the production by Bernard Lévy.

Performance dates: Feb. 4 – 8, 2022

Mezzo-soprano Lamia Beuque stars in Paul-Émile Fourny’s production of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s “Aucassin et Nicolette” alongside conductor Cyril Englebert and Ensemble orchestral de l’Opéra de Reims.

Performance dates: March 11 – 12, 2022

Beatrice Venezi conducts the cast yet to be announced in the Francesca Lattuada’s production of Bellini‘s “La Sonnambula.”

Performance dates: March 27 – 31, 2022

Finally, Charles Gounod‘s “Mireille” spotlights Gabrielle Philiponet, Julien Dran, Pierre-Yves Pruvot, Vikena Kamenica, and Ana Fernández Guerra. David Reiland conducts the production by Paul-Émile Fourny.
