Adela Zaharia, Michael Weinius, Maria Kataeva & Michael Volle Lead Deutsche Oper Am Rhein’s 2023-24 Season

The Deutsche Oper am Rhein has announced its 2023-24 season.

Premieres

The first new production of the season will be Wagner’s “Parsifal” with Daniel Frank and Michael Weinius sharing the title role. They are joined by Bogdan Baciu, Luke Stoker, Hans-Peter König, Joachim Goltz, and Sarah Ferede. Axel Kober conducts the production by Michael Thalheimer.

Performance Dates: Sept. 17, 2023-April 7, 2024

Barry Kosky directs Offenbach’s “Orpheus in the Underworld.” The production stars Susan Maclean, Max Hopp, Elena Sancho Pereg, Bryony Dwyer, Andrés Sulbarán, Florian Simson, Romana Noack, Heidi Elisabeth Meier, Peter Bording, and Katarzyna Kuncio. Adrien Perruchon and Patrick Francis Chestnut conduct.

Performance Dates: Sept. 29-Nov. 7, 2023

Ronchetti’s “Das fliegende Klassenzimmer” will be conducted by Patrick Francis Chestnut and directed by Ilaria Lanzino. Chorong Kim, Hagar Sharvit, Charlotte Langner, Shengwu Ou, Sander de Jong, and Roman Hoza star.

Performance Dates: Oct. 22-Nov. 17, 2023

Trojahn’s “Septembersonate” will be directed by Johannes Erath and directed by Vitali Alekseenok. Holger Falk, Roman Hoza, Juliane Banse, and Susan Maclean star.

Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Sivigilia” gets a new production starring Kimberley Boettger-Soller, Maria Kataeva, César Cortés, Cornel Frey, Jake Muffett, Jorge Espino, Giulio Mastrototaro, Bogdan Taloș, and Sami Luttinen. Antonino Fogliani conducts the new production by Maurice Lenhard.

Performance Dates: Dec. 21, 2023-March 6, 2024

“Iwein Löwenritter” will be conducted by Harry Ogg and Sebastian Ludwig and directed by Aron Stiehl. Magda Lena Schlott, Stefan Heidemann, Žilvinas Miškinis, Morenike Fadayomi, Andrei Danilov, Mara Guseynova, Anna Sophia Theil, Thorsten Grümbel, Torben Jürgens, Jorge Espino, Chorong Kim, and Verena Kronbichler star.

Bogdan Baciu, and Ekaterina Sannikova star in Tchiakovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” with Ramona Zaharia, Anna Harvey, Ovidiu Purcel, David Fischer, and Bogdan Taloș. Vitali Alekseenok conducts the production by Michael Thalheimer.

Adela Zaharia and Maria Kataeva lead Bellini’s “I Capuletti e I Montecchi” with Andrei Danilov, Thorsten Grümbel, and Žilvinas Miškinis.

Jacquelyn Wagner takes on the title role in Janacek’s “Jenufa” alongside Renée Morloc, Giorgi Sturua, Jussi Myllys, and Rosie Aldrige. Axel Kober conducts the new production by Tatjana Gürbaca.

Paul Abraham’s “Marchen im Grand-Hotel” will be directed by Michaela Dicu. Sylvia Hamvasi, Cornel Frey, Romana Noack, Jake Muffett, Torben Jürgens, and Valerie Eickhoff star.

Jerry Bock’s “Anatevka” will star Susan Maclean, Anke Krabbe, Kimberley Boettger-Soller, Mara Guseynova, Morenike Fadayomi, and Roman Hoza. Harry Ogg and Christoph Stöcker conduct the production by Felix Seiler.

Axel Kober conducts Wagner’s “Der Fliegende Hollander” in a new production by Vasily Barkhatov. The cast includes Gabriela Scherer, Jussi Myllys, Anna Harvey, David Fischer, Andrés Sulbarán, Michael Volle, and James Rutherford.

Donizetti’s “La Fille du Regiment” will be performed by Sophia Theodorides, Konu Kim, Günes Gürle, Susan Maclean, and Florian Simson. Antonino Fogliani conducts.

Mozart’s “Die Zauberflote” returns with a cast that includes Beniamin Pop, Thorsten Grümbel, Luke Stoker, Andrés Sulbarán, David Fischer, Jussi Myllys, Heidi Elisabeth Meier, Anke Krabbe, Lavinia Dames, Jake Muffett, Roman Hoza, and Richard Šveda. Vitali Alekseenok, Harry Ogg, and Péter Halász alternate at the pit.

Liana Aleksanyan leads Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” with Anna Harvey, Katarzyna Kuncio, Eduardo Aladrén, Ovidiu Purcel, Alexey Zelenkov, and Richard Šveda.

Tchaikovsky’s “The Maid of Orleans” will star Maria Kataeva, Sami Luttinen, Aleksandr Nesterenko, Sergej Khomov, Luiza Fatyol, and Thorsten Grümbel. Péter Halász conducts.
