Adam Levowitz to Record Rock Version of ‘Don Giovanni’

By Francisco Salazar

The Adam Levowitz Rock Orchestra has announced a recording of “Don Giovanni” in a reimagined version for the 21st century.

The new version features a translation by Levowitz himself and a telling of the story of Leporello’s relationship with Giovanni.

The new recording will be done in October of 2021 and will showcase approximately an hour of the three-hour opera. The selections on the album comprise a complete narrative that can be heard on its own.

The cast will include Ryan Silverman, Spencer Moses, Jaygee Macaougay, Raymond Mcleod, Olivia Hernandez, and Tia Karaplis. The singers will be accompanied by an orchestra made up of guitar, bass, trumpet, trombone, and keyboard players.

The recording is set to be released in 2022 with a date to be announced.
