Achivio Storico Tullio Serafin Announces New Vocal Competition
By Alan NeilsonAs part of the ongoing celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the death of Maestro Tullio Serafin, the Achivio Storico Tullio Serafin, in association with the maestro’s family, have announced the establishment of a major international singing competition for promising young singers.
Andrea Castello, President of the association, said the competition will offer “an award dedicated to the memory of the maestro.”
Throughout his life Serafin always paid particular interest to the careers of young singers, and so it is appropriate that his memory will be marked in this manner.
There will be a number of awards on offer, which aim to launch the international careers of young talented opera singers, and will be open to singers of all nationalities. Castello was keen to stress that it is important that “it has an international profile” in order to reflect Serafin’s “extraordinary international career,” and for this reason, although it is being held in Vicenza, “it will have an international reach.”
The inaugural competition, to be held in Vicenza, is scheduled for the Spring of 2019.
