The Teatro Regio di Parma has announced 12 students that have been chosen for the “Alto perfezionamento in repertorio verdiano” course at the Accademia Verdiana 2021.

The 12 singers who will join the course are Irene Celle, Magdalena Elizabeth Gallo Aguila, Chiara Guerra, Danbi Lee, Jaebeom Park, Ilaria Alida Quilico, Franco Rios Castro, Anna Subbotina, Silia Valente, Yuxuan Wang, Chuanqi Xu, and Shuai Zhang.

The 12 singers will be prepared vocally, musically, and theatrically and will be sponsored by Regione Emilia Romagna and the Sociale Europeo Fund. Each participant will also get 1000 euro.

Participants will take classes from June 28 to July 23 and from August 23 to March 4 and will work with the likes of Giovanna Casolla, Fiorenza Cedolins, Mariella Devia, Barbara Frittoli, Sonia Ganassi, Silvia Paoli, Anna Pirozzi, Roberto De Candia, Vincenzo De Vivo, Martino Faggiani, Michele Pertusi, and Giulio Zappa.

The academy, which is now in its 15th year, saw 101 candidates from 16 countries, including Italy, Armenia, Bulgaria, Brazil, China, Korea, France, Japan, Greece, Israel, Lithuania, Mexico, Peru, Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine.

All auditions were seen by a jury made up of Renata Scotto, Cristiano Sandri, Giannina Seccia, Vincenzo De Vivo, Damiana Pinti, and Giovanni Di Stefano.
