The Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia has announced a cast change for its concert performance of Puccini’s “Tosca” on Oct. 24, 2024.

The company said that Roberto Frontali will sing the role of Scarpia taking over for Ludovic Tézier who is ill.

For his part, Tézier took to social media and said, “Dear friends, a virus has put me in trouble for the past few days. Getting it done and feeling much better already! However, as a precaution, Santa Cecilia decided more prudent to replace me tonight with my excellent colleague Roberto Frontali to whom I wish all the best! So I will resume the thread of this series of concerts next Saturday, during the last one, and on this occasion, I will meet with great pleasure, all my colleagues and the orchestra!”

Frontali, who is well known for his Verdi, Puccini, and verismo roles, will join a cast that includes Eleonora Buratto and Jonathan Tetelman. Daniel Harding conducts.

Tézier returns to the stage on Oct. 27, 2024, for the final performance of “Tosca.”
