Academy of Vocal Arts Unveils 2025-26 Season

Academy of Vocal Arts has announced its 2025-26 season.

The season opens with a New Artist Recital under music director José Meléndez.

Performance Date: Sept. 26, 2025


Then comes the Giargiari Bel Canto Competition under music director Danielle Orlando.

Performance Date: Oct. 4, 2025


Tara Faircloth will direct Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro.” Joseph Colaneri conducts.

The first cast, performing on Nov. 8, 13, 18, and 23, features Cumhur Görgün as Figaro, Jasmine Ismail as Susanna, Joshua Klein as Count Almaviva, Alexa Frankian as Countess Almaviva, Maiya Williams as Marcellina, Raúl Morales Velazco as Bartolo, Cole McIlquham as Basilio, Katherine Dobbs as Cherubino, Daniela Machado as Barbarina, Ryan Wornall as Antonio, and Sergio Mandujano as Curzio.

For the second cast, featured on November 11, 15, 21, and December 2, Figaro is performed by Nan Wang, Susanna by Beautiful Sheriff, Count Almaviva by Geoffrey Schmelzer, Countess Almaviva by Anna Thompson, Marcellina by Dawson Franzino, Bartolo by Ryan Wornall, Basilio by Joshua Berg, Cherubino by Julianna Smith, Barbarina by Daniela Machado, Antonio by Raúl Morales Velazco, and Curzio by Matthew Sink.

Performance Date: Nov. 8 – Dec. 2, 2025


Then in January, Josh Miller stages Strauss’ “Capriccio.” Luke Housner conducts.

Performance Date: Jan. 17 – 25, 2026


John de los Santos will direct Bellini’s “I Capuleti e i Montecchi.” Michelle Rofrano conducts.

Performance Date: Feb. 28 – March 7, 2026


Verdi’s “Falstaff” will get a production by Chas Rader-Shieber. Steven White conducts.

Performance Date: April 18 – May 5, 2026


The season ends with a Farewell recital.

Performance Date: May 15, 2026
