Academy of Vocal Arts Names 2021-22 Resident Artists

The Academy of Vocal Arts has announced its new resident artists for the 2021-22 season.

The new resident artists include soprano Lydia Grindatto, tenor Angel Gomez, and tenor Luke Norvell.

Grindatto is a New Mexico native who made her professional debut at Opera Southwest. In the 2021-22 season, she was cast in the roles of Papagena in “Die Zauberflöte” and Annina in “La Traviata” with Opera Southwest; both performances were canceled due to COVID-19.

Gomez was a Gulf Coast finalist for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions as well as a first-place winner at the South Texas National Association of Teachers in Singing Competition.

Finally, Norvell has performed with such companies as Landmark Opera, Independent Opera Company, Lyric Opera of Orange County, Valley Opera and Performing Arts, LAH-SOW, and the Eurasia Festival among many others.
