Académie Opéra National de Paris Announces 2023-24 Season
By David SalazarThe Académie Opéra National de Paris has unveiled its 2023-24 season.
There will be an opening concert featuring artists in residence of the Académie.
Performance Date: Sept. 27, 2023
There will be a Brahms concert featuring Lied from the famed composer.
Performance Date: Oct. 13, 2023
Next up is a double bill of the ballet “Ma Mère L’Oye” and the opera “L’Enfant et les Sortilèges.” The Ravel opera will be directed by Richard Jones and Antony McDonald and conducted by Patrick Lange. It will star artists in residence at the Académie.
Performance Dates: Nov. 21 – Dec. 14, 2023
Young artists from the Académie will present a concert of melodies and opera arias.
Performance Dates: Dec. 18 & 19, 2023
“Concert de Fêtes” will feature a wide range of unique musical numbers from operettas or musical theater with artists from the Académie.
Performance Date: Dec. 21, 2023
Members of the Académie will present an Arias and Ensembles concert. Thomas Hangelbrock conducts.
Performance Date: Jan. 24, 2024
For younger audiences, the Académie will present “La Petite Fille, Le Chasseur, et Le Loup” in a production directed by Inne Goris. Alphonse Cemin conducts a group of soloists that includes Pauline Texier, Lise Nougler, and Fernando Escalona.
Performance Dates: Jan. 31 – Feb. 3, 2024
There will also be a concert in which members of Académie join forces with members of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Program for a program of arias and ensembles.
Performance Date: Feb. 15, 2023
Soprano Andrea Cueva Molnar and pianist Yoan Héreau will perform a recital “Airs de Paris.”
Performance Dates: March 14 & 15, 2024
Tenor Kiup Lee will join forces with pianist Benjamin Laurent for a concert featuring music from around the world.
Performance Date: March 25 & 26, 2024
Yahani Perinpanayagam will conduct a Ted Huffman production of “Street Scene.” It will star artists in residence at the Académie.
Performance Dates: April 19 – 27, 2024
Baritone Alexander York and pianist Yoan Héreau will present “Les Grands d’Espagne.”
Performance Dates: May 13 & 14, 2024
There will be a concert dedicated to the music of Fauree alongside Palazzetto Bru Zane.
Performance Date: May 23, 2024
Young audiences will also be treated to “Nezquicoule.” The opera features music by Offenbach, Shostakovich, Händel, Gershwin, and Delibes. Helene Bracke directs. The opera features such singers as Helene Bracke, Ewout Lehoucq, and Jean Bermes.
Performance Dates: May 29 – June 1, 2024
There will be a performance of David Lang’s “Crowd Out,” which features 1,000 singers. Fayçal Karoui conducts and Dimitri Chamblas directs.
