ABAO Txiki to Showcase ‘Allegro Vivace’

By David Salazar

ABAO Txiki is set to close out its 2021-22 season with “Allegro Vivace.”

The showcase, which is set for May 14 and 15, 2022, will feature three performances for families in Bilbao, Spain.

“Allegro Vivace” was created by Joan Font and tells the story of a young girl, who in her rush to find a locale for a party, ends up in an old building where she runs into “Vivace,” a being that represents the spirit of opera. While she is a lover of modern electronic music, she finds friendship with Vivace and the two set out on a journey united by music.

The work features scenes from works by such composers as Monteverdi, Puccini, Verdi, Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti, Berlioz, and Puccini; among the operas that will be featured are “Rigoletto,” “La Traviata,” “Don Giovanni,” “Carmen,” and “Turandot,” among others.

Performers include actors Jon Koldo Vázquez and Marta Rosell as well as singers Alicia Ferrer, Marta Rodrigo, Ricard Torino, and Xavi Fernández. Pianist Olga Kobekina and cellist Esther Villa also star.
