
ABAO TXIKI to Present ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’ this Weekend
By Afton MarkayABAO TXIKI is set to present Ópera de Cámara de Navarra’s production of “The Emperor’s New Clothes.”
The cast is made up of Julen Jiménez, Itxaso Moriones, Noemí Irisarri, Txori García, María Lacunza, Carlos Crooke, Txema Lacunza, and María Gutiérrez. They are joined by the Navarra Chamber Opera Choir and the Navarra Symphony Orchestra conducted by Javier Echarri. Ion Barbarin directs. Edurne Ibáñez is in charge of costumes and lighting and video are designed by Jorge Urrizola.
“The Emperor’s New Clothes” takes to the stage at the Arriaga Theater on March 15 at 6 p.m., followed by two performances on March 16 at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. A school performance will be held on March 27.
Following this performance is the Bilbao premiere of “I’m Wild!” La Maquiné and the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions perform under the stage direction of Joaquín Casanova. “I’m Wild!” features music by Delage, Debussy, and López Montes. The work combines elements of singing, piano, flute, and percussion, along with the use of actors, puppets, shadows, objects, and projections on stage. This performance run taking place May 10 -12 closes out the season.
