Director of Choral Activities at Spoleto Festival USA to Step Down
By David SalazarJoe Miller, the Director of Choral Activities at Spoleto Festival USA, has announced the end of his tenure with the organization in June 2025.
Miller, who has been with the company for 19 years, will be celebrated with a series of special programs throughout the festival. Those events will be unveiled in early 2025.
During his tenure, Miller championed the advancement of the choral program and was a major part of preparing for world premiere productions of “Omar” and “Ruinous Gods.” He also conducted the first fully-staged production of “El Niño” at Festival Hall as well as the first production of “Path of Miracles.”
“Joe Miller’s impact has been immeasurable,” said Mena Mark Hanna, General Director and CEO of Spoleto Festival USA, per an official press release. “Through remarkable talent, creativity, and determination, he has created world-class choral music at Spoleto. He has been a vital force for choral music in America and an extraordinary friend to our Festival. We are deeply grateful for his dedication and look forward to celebrating his legacy at the 2025 Festival. He will always be part of the Spoleto family.”
