San Antonio Philharmonic Postpones October Concerts Due to Lawsuit
By Francisco SalazarThe San Antonio Philharmonic has postponed its October programs until the spring.
The concerts originally scheduled for Oct. 18-19 will be pushed back until next spring. Executive Director Roberto Treviño confirmed the news and noted that the postponement will allow the orchestra to focus on selling tickets to its performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, set for Nov. 16-17.
The postponement of the concerts comes as two Philharmonic donors sued the orchestra to force repayment of what court documents called $180,000 in loans. According to the lawsuit filed in Bexar County District, the two donors are demanding repayment, including interest and attorney’s fees.
In response to the lawsuit, Treviño denied the claims and said the orchestra’s attorney “is aware of this and will respond appropriately.” He also said the allegations were false and inaccurate and that the organization had voted Wood off the board.
