Jonas Kaufmann to Celebrate Puccini on Tour

By Francisco Salazar

Jonas Kaufmann is set to celebrate Puccini with a tour dedicated to the composer.

The tenor took to social media and said, “‘Viva Puccini!’ is a personal tribute to the 100th anniversary of the great composer’s death. From October 10th to November 9th, I will be dedicating a series of concerts to Puccini’s genius, together with the sopranos Maria Agresta and Valeria Sepe and the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie under the direction of Jochen Rieder. I look forward to seeing you at one of the concerts as we tour Europe.”

The tour opens on Oct. 9 at the Théâtre du Châtelet and will continue on Oct. 9 at the Wiener Konzerthaus and Oct. 17 at the Rosengarten in Mannheim.

On Oct. 19, the tenor will go to the Konzerthaus in Freiburg, and on Oct. 22 he will perform at Frankfurt’s Alte Oper. The tour will continue on Oct. 25 at the Konzerthaus Dortmund, Oct. 31 at the Liederhalle in Stuttgart, and Nov 2 at the Isarphilharmonie in München.

The tour concludes on Nov. 6 at the Glocke in Bremen and on Nov. 9 at the KKL in Luzern.
