Nadine Sierra made history at a performance at the Bilbao Opera, encoring the audience after her aria, “Amour, ranime mon courage.”

During the Oct. 27 performance, Sierra received a rousing ovation following her initial performance of the aria and then got a chance to give the first “bis” in her career.

When the production opened on Oct. 21, 2023, Sierra received rave reviews with critics noting, “Nadine Sierra is one of those stars who reminds you why opera is your passion and why live performance can never be replaced a recording.”

Sierra recently canceled her performances of Liu at the Gran Teatre del Liceu due to muscle problems. However, she is set to return to the role of Juliette at the Metropolitan Opera in the spring alongside Benjamin Bernheim.
