The LA Philharmonic has responded to the false X-Twitter page that falsely announced Zubin Meta’s death.

The orchestra said on its X-Twitter page, “It’s come to our attention that there is an account that is spreading misinformation. The LA Phil is in no way associated with the account laphilnews, and no information it posts should be viewed as coming from the LA Phil.”

The response comes hours after the LAPhilnews page announced that Zubin Mehta had died and news was spread throughout the world with numerous international outlets reporting the false news. The account later noted that it was a hoax created by Italian journalist Tommaso Debenedetti.
