By Afton Wooten

Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart has announced Hans-Christoph Rademann will conduct “VISION.BACH for today: Understanding life with Bach.”

This major cantata project will feature the first Leipzig cycle of cantatas written by Johann Sebastian Bach, in their entirety and in original order 300 years after composition. Soloists include soprano Dorothee Mields, alto Marie Henriette Reinhold, countertenor Alex Potter, tenor Benedikt Kristjánsson, and bass Matthias Winckhler. The Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart ensemble Gaechinger Cantorey will join them.

All concerts will feature a variety of expert guest speakers to enhance the program. Rademann explained his goal is “to bring to life again the sound of the music from the 18th century and to transport the meaning of the music to the present.”

All concerts will be recorded and released at a later date through the hänssler CLASSIC label.

A total of 23 concerts will be held beginning May 14 at Beethoven Hall in Stuttgart and run through May 2024.
