Detroit Symphony Orchestra to Take Up Residency at Interlochen This Summer

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra has announced that it will return for residency at Interlochen this summer.

Per an official press release, members of the famed orchestra will lead masterclasses on July 22 and 23 and rehearse with students. Moreover, Detroit Symphony Orchestra music director Jader Bignamini will conduct the Interlochen’s “World Youth Symphony Orchestra in a performance scheduled for July 23, 2023. That showcase will feature Mahler’s Symphony No. 1. The concert will be broadcast via Interlochen Public Radio and via the organization’s official website.

Additionally, the DSO will feature perform a concert on July 22 that includes music from Verdi’s “Macbeth,” Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake,” and Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite.”

“For young artists at Interlochen, this is an extraordinary opportunity to be mentored by some of the best musicians in the world,” said Interlochen Center for the Arts President Trey Devey in the press release. “We couldn’t be more proud to partner with the DSO in sharing the joy of music with our community on campus and beyond.”
