Superstar soprano Pretty Yende is set to perform alongside the Princeton Symphony Orchestra this January at the Richardson Auditorium.

Yende will take on Samuel Barber’s “Knoxville: Summer of 1915” as well as arias from Verdi’s “La Traviata” and Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.”

The orchestra will also play Copland’s “Appalachian Spring” and music by Verdi and Rossini. Rossen Milanov conducts the performances which are set to take place on Jan. 14 and 15, 2023 at 8 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.

There will be a pre-concert talk prior to the Sunday performance.

Yende is currently in the midst of a run of performances of “La Traviata” at the San Francisco Opera. Of her performances, OperaWire’s Lois Silverstein noted that “the South African soprano was a quintessential Violetta. Her coloratura soared from early coquette to lyric drama queen, which kept us on a thrilling ride. She flirted, she flitted, she teased and intoxicated – she made us care.”

Following “La Traviata,” Yende is also set to perform in “La Fille du Régiment” at the Vienna State Opera.
