Lawrence Brownlee, Nino Machaidze & Iréne Theorin Lead Müpa Budapest’s 2022-23 Season

Müpa Budapest has announced its 2022-23 season featuring a number of concerts and great artists.

Here is a look at the vocal performances of the season.

Musical Stage

Aapo Häkkinen conducts Schubert’s “Alfonso und Estrella” with Patrick Grahl, Lydia Teuscher, Krešimir Stražanac, Johannes Weisser, and Arttu Kataja.

Performance Dates: Nov. 17, 2022

Nikolas Nägele conducts the Bel Canto Aria evening with Lidia Fridman, Lawrence Brownlee, and Gyungmin Gwon. The concert features the Pannon Philharmonic. 

Performance Date: Feb. 19, 2023

Ivan Repušić conducts the Munich Radio Orchestra in Verdi’s “I Lombardi.” Galeano Salas, Michele Pertusi, Piero Pretti, Nino Machaidze, Réka Kristóf, and Miklós Sebestyén.

Performance Date: April 26, 2023

Wagner’s “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” will star Thomas Johannes Mayer, Gábor Bretz, Zoltán Nagy, AJ Glueckert, Polina Pasztircsák, Cornel Frey, and Andrea Ulbrich. Axel Kober conducts.

Festivals and Oratorios

Howard Williams conducts Berlioz’s Requiem with Andrew Staples.

Performance Date: Nov. 1, 2022

The Advent Concert will feature the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir with conductor Tõnu Kaljuste. The program will feature music by Sibelius, Arvo Pärt, Nystedt, Maasalo, Kreek, and Kodály.

Performance Date: Nov. 27, 2022

Beethoven Misa Solemnis with Philippe Herreweghe conducting. The soloists include Eleanore Lyons, Eva Zaïcik, Maximilian Schmitt, and Florian Boesch.

Ádám Fischer conducts Haydn’s “The Seasons” starring Tuuli Takala, Uwe Stickert, and Miklós Sebestyén.

Chamber Treasures

Mahler song recital will feature Bo Skovhus accompanied by Stefan Vladar.

Baroque Music Festival

Rameau’s “Castor et Pollux” will feature György Vashegyi conducting and starring Judith Van Wanroij, Véronique Gens, Reinoud Van Mechelen, Tassis Christoyannis, Olivia Doray, Hasnaa Bennani, David Witczak, and Antonin Rondepierre.

Wagner

Ádám Fischer conducts “Das Rheingold” with Günther Groissböck, Zsolt Haja, Szabolcs Brickner, Christian Franz, Atala Schöck, Lilla Horti, Erika Gál, Péter Kálmán, and Jürgen Sacher.

Performance Date: June 15, 2023

Wagner’s “Die Walküre” will be conducted by Ádám Fischer and will star Stuart Skelton, Albert Dohmen, Günther Groissböck, Iréne Theorin, and Atala Schöck
