Olga Neuwirth to Receive 2022 International Ernst von Siemens Music Prize

By Logan Martell

Composer Olga Neuwirth has been named as the recipient of the 2022 International Ernst von Siemens Music Prize.

The award, given for a life in service of music, will be presented on June 2 at the Prinzregententheater in Munich, with a laudatory speech to be given by Austrian author Raphaela Edelbauer.

Ensemble intercontemporain will perform works by Neuwirth, conducted by Matthias Pintscher.

Neuwirth is recognized for her work in a broad array of multimedia formats, such as film and video, musical theatre, art installations, radio plays, film scores, and more. Her sound deliberately blurs the boundaries of genre and style, with notable works including multimedia operas “Bahlamms Fest,” and “Lost Highway,” and 3D work “Le Encantadas o le avventure nel mare delle meraviglie” for the Donaueschinger Musikstage, which is based on the scientific-acoustic measurements of a Venetian church.
