Mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili has withdrawn from a couple of upcoming performances.

The opera star took to social media to note that she would be canceling her second performance of “Adriana Lecouvreur” at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan as well as the performances of the Verdi Requiem with the Berlin Philharmonic set for March 11, 12, and 13.

In the post, Rachvelishvili noted that “After 2+ years of pandemic and very difficult pregnancy I felt that I have to be back as soon as possible to be able to support my family and our little angel, but my body is just not working yet.

She noted that after giving birth on Nov. 30, 2021, she worked hard with her teacher to get back to top form “but the body is just not ready yet and I need a period of studies without having stress of performance ahead of me.”

She noted that her hope is to be back and ready for the final two performances of “Adriana Lecouvreur” currently scheduled for March 16 and 19, 2022. Otherwise she will aim for an April 10 recital and for the May production of “Les Troyens” at the Bayerische Staatsoper where she will make her role debut as Didon.

She finished off the post with a cheeky “P.S. apparently I am not a Robot.”
