The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh to Present Six Free Concerts of ‘The Promise of Light’

The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburg will share six free performances of “The Promise of Light” Dec. 10-18, 2021.

The program focuses on meditation of music and poetry about winter with music by Randall Thompson, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Melissa Dunphy, Georgia Stitt, and popular songs by the Fleet Foxes, Carole King, and Dolly Parton. The concert will also include a poetry section featuring works by Robert Frost, Margaret Atwood, and more.

The choir’s Dec. 11 performance will be its first-ever sensory-friendly concert which is designed to serve people with autism, sensory sensitivities, and other disabilities. More information about this concert can be found here.

Two performances will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh on Dec. 10 & 11. Also, on Dec. 11 there will be a 7:30pm performance at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Cranberry, PA. The Dec. 12 show is at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Pittsburgh. Dec. 17 the concert will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shadyside. The final performance is Dec. 18 at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Pittsburgh.
